Will Michelle Obama do for White House Black Market what Oprah does for her book club inductees? I am not sure… but one thing I do know is that the there are no more Tank Leaf Print Dresses to be found.
Wednesday, Mrs. Obama appeared as a co-host on the View. She touted about the $148 White House Black Market dress that she was wearing. By midnight, the dress was sold out at every White House Black Market store. The online store advises customers that there is a two month back log for the dress.
White House Black Market has been around since 1985. They carry sassy yet sophisticated lines in woman’s fashion. The styles all have a simple chromatic scheme… black, white and an occasional splash of tan thrown in for color. Â
White House Black Market apparel has a signature style. And since Mrs. Obama gave them a free plug on the View, they now have tons of new customers clamoring to sport that style.
But don’t run out and get that cute, little White House Black Market dress just yet. There is a way that you can be fashionably chic in your new White House Black Market garbs for a discounted price.
Most of the clothes at White House Black Market are reasonably priced. A nice get-up may set you back about $150. But when you take advantage of sale prices and coupons, you won’t spend nearly as much.
Check out their sale page. There are many garments that are selling for less than half off the original price.Â
The Little Black Buckle Dress, originally listed for $128, is now only $49.99.Â

The Diamond Print Dress, down from $90, is selling for only $39.99.
I can go on forever about the great sale prices. But go there and see it for yourself. The deals are never ending.

I have never been to a White House Black Market store. There are none in my area, but there are plenty locations in Texas. While we’re on our road trip, I’ll get the DH to stop at the mall so I can get in on the new White House Black Market wave.

I adore Michelle Obama. I think she’s the best first lady since Rosalyn Carter and Jackie Kennedy. She’s stylish, she’s smart, and she’s down to earth.
I will tell you a dark secret about myself. When I was in junior high, back in the early 1960s, I wanted to be a Shirelle. And then the Supremes got big and I wanted to be a Supreme. Two of my little white girlfriends would practice Supremes songs on the playground together everyday with the moves and everything, and the black girls, who always hung together, laughed their butts off at us. They thought we were completely insane. I saw the Shirelles about 10 years ago on a double bill with the Coasters at an Indiana county fair, and they were absolutely awesome, even all these years later.
Anyway, so Michelle Obama, for me, nerdy white girl in Michigan, is a dream come true, it’s like having one of the Shirelles in the White house, only with a law degree and a supercool husband.
I hope that wasn’t an offensive story. Your post on her clothes and all–I mean, for girls, the Shirelles had that nailed in the 60s. No white woman approached their coolness. God they got to wear sparkly dresses ALL THE TIME.
