PFA, today has been one of those days. I woke up early… before the sun… to get prepared for the day. I got the kids ready for school… waved good day to them as the got on the big yellow bus. Then I headed back home to get ready for my day. Brush, floss, rinse… dash out of the door with curlers still in my hair… one shoe on and the other in my hand (I was running late as usual). And off to work I went.
The work day was long… filled with meeting after senseless meeting. Deadlines to meet, reports to run… you know a typical day at the office… five thousand things need to get done, but no time to do it.
And finally, five o’clock rolls around. But no time to break… there is only time to make it to my next commitment… my Microeconomics class starts at 6 pm. With some crafty maneuverings through rush hour traffic, I make it to school two minutes before class starts. However tonight I am not afforded the luxury of being lectured to for the entire three hours… this night I am adorned with the role of student lecturer. I give a thirty minute spiel on pricing regulations for monopolies (yeah… some real interesting stuff), answer a few questions, then have a seat so I can listen to my fellow classmates as they too try to muddle though their presentations. Four presentations and two hours later… the bell rings. Well… not really a bell. But car keys began to jangle as folks start taking them out of there pockets and purses. That is as good a sign as any that it is time to go.
It’s been a loooong day… to say the least. On my long days, there is no time to prepare a hearty home cooked meal… so I must rely on take out meals to get the family fed. On tonight’s menu… mashed potatoes and gravy, buttery corn on the cob, and extra crispy fried chicken… all courtesy of Harland Sanders…(who??) the Colonel …(who??) KFC… (ah, now we get it)
KFC provides the perfect end to a long day. Home style meals in less than 5 minutes. What more can a busy wife and mother ask for? Umm… coupons… duh?
