Airline rewards credit cards are a great way to help you pay for traveling the world. A lot of people know all about airline rewards cards and the benefits that they offer. But I hope to add to that bulk of knowledge with this article. You should find some good gems hidden in this article that you’re not aware of. Airline rewards credit cards can be quite lucrative for you if you use them well and research the options first before getting one for yourself.
I have literally traveled all over the continental United States on the back of one of these cards. And I loved every minute of it. And this was back in the day when not all of the cards had the most accommodating terms. Thankfully things have changed for the better now and you can more easily find an airline rewards credit card that fits your needs.
I remember back in the day, all these blackout dates that seemed so prevalent that at one point I thought I’d have to wear an all black ninja suit just to get a decent flight. But seriously, it seemed to work best if you were very flexible, perhaps like those Chinese female gymnasts. That, or you were retired and didn’t care when you flew. But things have improved but you still need to be careful, I’m always reminding my friends to use their common sense in choosing any credit card but especially an airline rewards credit card. Some sinister cards out there will still black you out till you’re black and blue, but the choices have become much better.
Air miles rewards card is now offered by all major credit card issuers and is probably the most popular one out there. But there are others worthy of consideration too. And some of them are giving the air miles franchise a very real run for their money. And the great thing about the other options is that there are a ton of airlines on board now. So many different airlines are developing alliances that you can literally travel throughout the world all on airline rewards credit cards. Not that I’ve done it. I think it would still take a ton of air miles, but I’ve heard it can be done and it sounds interesting. If any of you out there want to sponsor me on your airline travel rewards for a trip around the world, I’d take lots of cool pictures for you!
But seriously, there are also cards available for specific airlines too. And oftentimes with these kinds of cards you’ll find that your rewards will be more generous than with an all encompassing airline rewards card. But as with everything there is a cost to this. And this cost often means that you are stuck flying only with one specific airline or a small number of them a the most. But I know, and you’ll probably agree that there are just a handful of airlines that I love to fly with. Their service and scheduling is just terrific. And I’d be more than happy to fly with them as much as I could.
So always look at the fine print and make an honest assessment of the amount of traveling you’re likely to do each year. You’ll need to figure this out. Obviously the less travel you do each year than the less you want to have to pay for the privilege of an airline travel rewards credit card. And if you travel a lot then you want as many rewards as possible. The more air miles you can get the better, and the further you can travel.
