I like charge cards. But I don’t like them for everyone. Charge cards are the precursor to the common garden variety credit card. But I think a charge card harkens back to a different era, where folks were perhaps a little more responsible and where the living was less harried.
Charge cards were developed at the beginning of the last century when top hats were all the rage and horse drawn buggies could still outrun the iron horse. These cards are basically short term loans, and by short term I mean usually a month or so. And as such the charge card needs to be paid off at the end of the loan period.

Business credit cards are a great option for all business owners to seriously consider. This article will talk through some of the benefits that business owners can expect to receive from this type of card over a personal credit card. I’d start off by suggesting that a business credit card is a must have for any business owner. Whether you are a single operator to a large conglomerate, a business card is a must have. It is one of the most often overlooked aspects of business finance but also of business management. We’ll tell you more about that in just a little bit. So read on to see how these cards will help you manage your business more effectively and if used well, help you save money too.
In my own business, I use my business card for practically any business expense that I can. I’m able to expense a lot of different purchases for tax purposes and these are all purchased on my business credit card. I also use it to purchase items that have a dual purpose. By that I mean, I use my business card to buy fuel for my car. But only a portion of my car expenses are considered business expenses but I still pay for it on this card. This type of purchase I consider as part of my “benefits” package that I earn from my own company.
Using your business credit card like this, helps you to keep your costs in check. Although very often it is said that you’ll spend more money if you use a credit card as apposed to cash, I find that if you are financially savvy enough to own your own business then you’re likely wise enough to use your credit card appropriately. I have never found this to be an issue. I never spend more than I need to, or frivolously when using my business card. You just need to keep on top of things. I’m also sure to pay off my business card as soon as I get the bill. And I always check its balance at least on a weekly basis, so that if the expenses are piling up, I can rein it in early enough.
The great thing about using this kind of card is that you hardly have to keep cash, and most times the cash I am carrying is my personal cash and I don’t want to use that for business purposes. Using a business credit card is also an easy way to keep all your records in one place. You can count on monthly statements to help with that.
Now the thing to bear in mind with these cards as with personal credit cards is that there are a variety to choose from. You need to first ascertain what is your primary goal. If you are a frequent traveler, then perhaps an air travel points card is best. Or if you need to purchase physical products for your business then a points or cash back card would likely be better.
Also be sure to think about how your business credit card compliments your personal credit card. Perhaps you’ll want one for one purpose and the other for a different purpose. Another consideration is the costs involved as yearly fees and interest rates for the different types of cards. If you pay yours off each month then maybe you want a card that has lower yearly fee. If you don’t pay it off each month then lower interest rates are more suitable. So keep all these things in mind when shopping around for your business credit card.
Business credit cards are a must have for any business owner worth their salt. A good business credit card is extremely helpful in running your business smoothly and hassle free. In addition it helps to keep your records all in one place the more you use it. Personally I use my business credit card for just about anything and everything I can.
But you need to look for a business card that is best suited to both your personal and business needs. The two might be different so be sure your business credit card foots the bill for your business needs.
And in today’s uncertain times, this type of card can protect you from any downturn in the economy. If you are a limited liability corporation then any balance of credit is assessed against the business and not you personally. That should help you sleep well at night.

Gift credit cards are basically prepaid cards that can be used for any kind of gift-giving needs, such as employee rewards, birthdays, and Christmas gifts, amongst many others. They are generally loaded with a specific dollar amount. This means they are a type of prepaid card, that doesn’t have an interest rate applied to it.
You can often reload these cards, either online, at a bank, or over the phone. They will only be available for the amount of funds that are first deposited on them, and you’ll know immediately when the funds have been used. That way a monthly statement isn’t required, and you won’t go into debt by using one of these cards. They are a perfect option for that hard-to-buy-for person in your life.
These cards can be used pretty much anywhere a regular credit card is used, so they are also a helpful option for parents who want to start teaching their kids some new financial skills, without having the door open for overspending.
Gift cards, are also a valuable tool for parents who are sending their kids off to college. Students can use the cards in whatever way they see fit, while sticking to a budget, which is the amount of funds loaded onto the card. Parents can ensure that their kids know they need to stay within those limits. This way, parents have greater control over what their kids spend, by not topping up card once the funds have been used.
They are a versatile option with many applications that is also widely accepted by vendors. To check on the balance of the card, you can easily go online or to an ATM.
Gift credit cards are also a helpful way to make donations to charitable organizations. That way the charity has the flexibility of using the money as they see fit, without having to go to the bank to deposit checks. These cards also allow people to shop online or in a store, allowing greater flexibility for the recipient. Often times, discounts can be found for shopping online, which makes the money go even further.
When you are choosing one of these types of cards, you’ll want to check to see if it comes with an expiry date. You don’t want to lose the valuable funds applied to the card by having that term expire. If there is a risk of that happening, it would be advisable to choose a card that doesn’t have an expiry date on it.
These prepaid cards have many uses and are generally issued by major banks as well as individual stores. If you know a category of item that someone particularly likes, but don’t know the specific items they need, or sizes, or preferred styles, a gift credit card is a very useful option.
Don’t worry about the stress of going from store to store, wondering what a person might like, and then have to enclose a receipt anyways in case they need to return or exchange the item. This will cut down on time on both ends, because the recipient can use it for only the exact items they want. If they don’t spend all the money on the card at once, they can save it for later on.
Again if there is an expiry date attached to the card, make sure the recipient is made aware of that. You can preload these cards for any amount, whether small or large. They also have added security, because cash and checks can become lost. To protect that from happening on a gift card, just record the card number and contact information, so that it can be replaced if necessary.
The sky is literally the limit for the uses of gift credit cards. Whether as a gift for a special occasion, as a work with reward, a charitable donation, or a way to teach youngsters how to use a credit card and to be financially responsible, these cards are very useful.
Gift credit cards are a type of prepaid card that are, as the name suggests, given as a gift. They are often used for special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and Christmas gifts. They have also been popular rewards given by employers to deserving employees, in recognition of a special project completed or hard work having been done.
These cards are a superb alternative to the difficult task of shopping for gifts for hard-to-buy-for individuals. They are wonderful gesture, which many people appreciate, because they can spend the money as they see fit, rather than having to keep a gift they won’t use, or which doesn’t suit them, or having to go through the exchange process.

Hotel rewards credit cards are a sub category of credit cards that deal with rewards generally and travel more specifically. I’ve written about gas rewards elsewhere. You can also have a look at my article about general travel rewards credit cards and also airline rewards credit cards. Both of these articles deal with those topics quite extensively and I’m sure you’ll get some useful information from them. This article will be more specifically tuned to hotel rewards. There are some benefits to credit cards that are hotel focused and I will talk to you about them in this article. But as with all types and categories of credit cards, hotel rewards credit cards do have their own specific drawbacks.
Hotel rewards cards offer some similar benefits to other travel rewards cards. For instance, with some of the hotel rewards credit cards, you can transfer your points over to air miles or other airline travel rewards once you’ve accumulated a sufficient number of points. Usually this is 2500 or so points. And oftentimes if you have a good hotel rewards card you’ll find that you can transfer over one point for one air mile on an equivalent basis. This is very helpful if you’re not sure whether an airline rewards card or a hotel rewards card is what you should get. This way you get to have your cake and eat it too.
But there are some strategies to use to make sure you get the most out of your hotel card. Obviously, these cards are most often used by business people and frequent travelers. But that’s not the only people that these cards can benefit. They can help benefit you even if you just want to take a family vacation, but the more you travel whether for business or pleasure, the more you will benefit from a hotel rewards credit card.
Another thing to bear in mind when searching out a hotel rewards credit card is whether the hotel is part of an alliance or group of hotels. The great thing about this is that this is becoming more and more common. There are more and more hotels signing up to offer themselves as part of the group that this is rarely becoming a problem nowadays. But you still want to check. And if they aren’t part of an allegiance, you want to be sure that the hotel you’re thinking of getting a credit card from is well known across the country with easy availability especially when you need it.
Nothing is worse than coming to a hotel after a long period of travel when you’re tired and grouchy and finding out that they don’t have any space available. You’re not going to sleep very well that night if you’re spending half your night looking for a hotel.
Of course, not all hotel cards are created equal. You want to be sure that the card that you choose has the best bang for your buck. I like to try and figure out how many night’s I’ll have to buy before I get a free night’s stay for example. When armed with this information you have the ability of knowing how many nights of free hotel stay you’ll likely get from each year’s use.
This is helpful in planning a family vacation and having your hotel rewards card help pay for a portion of the trip. Thinking of spending a week at Disney Land or Disney World, that becomes a pleasure if you don’t have to pay for the hotel stay. So have a look at the big picture. The kinds of holidays you like to take and the kinds of hotels you like to stay at when seeking a hotel rewards credit card that fits your needs.
These cards are a very handy option for people who may not qualify for a traditional credit card. The way a prepaid debit card works is that the person holding the card loads, or puts a deposit on the card, which is then the limit of spending they can use the card for. These cards don’t require an annual fee in most instances since they are, essentially, a tool that allows you to use your own money in a different way. They are a valuable option for parents who want to start giving their kids some financial responsibility, for people without a credit history, or for those with a poor credit history.
The only time an annual fee is charged is if the card comes with specialized features such as cards for teens that have built-in controls that their parents can set. These controls can be for spending limits on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, as well as restrictions against what are termed “unwanted shopping categories”, such as alcohol and cigarettes, travel related items such as hotels, or other such categories. This is a great way for parents to start teaching their kids some financial responsibility, while still having safeguards put in.
Many of the prepaid debit cards will allow you to make deposits from various places free of charge, and won’t apply other transaction fees for card usage. Because of the nature of the pre-paid card, they often won’t require credit checks, income minimums, or employment status checks.
Prepaid debit cards are not only a great option for people without a good credit track record, but they are valuable tools for anyone to use who wants to control their spending. In our current economy, keeping tight control over spending habits is a wise thing to do. That way you don’t spend more than you have, because of the convenience and availability of credit, or because you have incentives on your card to spend more than you might otherwise do.
These types of cards a can be used anywhere a regular credit card can be used, including ATMs and online transactions – the only difference is the nature of how the credit is available. You can also use a prepaid card for bill payments and direct deposits. This allows you to tie in many of your various transactions into one secure source, so you can easily track the funds you have available.
Another valuable benefit of using this kind of card is for travel purposes, so that you don’t need to carry cash or travelers checks. It’s a safer way to make the purchases you want to make while you are way from home.
Unlike a secured credit card prepaid cards won’t offer introductory low interest rates, because you are actually not spending on borrowed money, you are only spending your own money through different way. Hence interest rates do not apply to the cards. In some instances there are limited rewards programs in place on these cards, so it pays to do a little research to see which one is most appropriate for your needs.
These cards are also way to get immediate notification if the funds have run out on them. The card will simply be declined. That way bounced checks and overdraft charges can be avoided. They allow useful financial options, without the risk of getting in too deep.
Prepaid debit cards are a valuable tool to use for people who are just starting to build their credit history, or who want to improve their credit track records. They allow the flexibility and freedom of making transactions where credit cards are typically required, and combine that with the safety of knowing you’re spending will always be kept under control. In our current recession, having an option like this is beneficial for many people. It can help you reduce and eliminate interest costs, debt loads, and secure your future against out-of-control spending.
Check out the various options for these cards, and give yourself additional peace of mind in knowing that you will only spend what you have available, while still enjoying the benefits of having a credit card.
Hotel rewards credit cards are a very popular option for business people and frequent travelers. I’ve made use of them myself for hotel stays when I’m on the road. They can be a great option if you’re unsure if you would rather have an airline rewards card or a hotel rewards card.
Many of the best hotel rewards cards offer a straight exchange from points to air miles. And with this ease of use you can choose which one you need first. Need to pay for a trip, transfer your points to air miles. The company has sponsored your trip but you need to pay for hotel, well there you go, just use the hotel rewards.

Prepaid debit cards are an excellent option for people whose past credit history has been poor, or for people who have yet to build a credit history. In those situations it can be very difficult to receive approval for an unsecured card.
Having a credit card is an essential tool for many of the things people want to do in life, such as travel, booking of hotels, and renting cars. It’s no longer possible to do many of these things on a cash basis, so having a credit card allows much more freedom of movement and activity. The prepaid cards are happy medium for both the bank and the individual.

Sports credit cards are a fun option for sports fans, teams, and athletes alike. If you know you will be spending larger and more regular amounts at specific sporting goods stores, or sports organizations, these are a great option for you. You can often get greater discounts by using one of these cards, than with a more generic rewards card program, through their unique sports-related features.
To redeem points, you can either go online or to the specific sports store or sports organization. These cards typically have the same types of interest rates apply to them as regular cards but those rates may increase the level of rewards offered. In addition many of these cards require an annual fee to take advantage of their incentive programs, because they are a type of specialty card. Typically you will find interest rates of around 15 to 20% on these cards. They will also generally come with all of the features that standard credit cards do, such as balance transfer options, cash advance penalties, and certain fraud protection.
Sports credit cards can be a way of flying the colors of a particular team or sport that you are member of, or identify with. They have their own designs and can sometimes be personalized. You can show off your favorite team every time you make a purchase with one of these cards. There are general categories for professional sports leagues such as baseball, football, and hockey, as well as racing, college sports, and Olympic-themed options.
Some of these cards will also have a charitable donation feature to them where you can support a particular sport each time you make a purchase using the card. That way you can know that your money is being put to even better use.
The redemption of points on these cards can be for both purchases and major sporting events, that way every time you make a purchase on one of these cards you may be earning tickets to your favorite sports outing. Note that the more general sports category you have the wider the options that will be available to you for redeeming your rewards. When you are shopping around for sports credit cards, take a look at the various details associated with each one to see what’s most appropriate for you. You’ll also want to compare annual fees interest rates, lists of participating vendors, and the rules and restrictions around redeeming your points to make the best choice.
There is a growing number of these types of cards available, to suit all kinds of athletes, teams and sports fans. Show your team loyalty through using a sports credit card, and help support athletes and sports organizations through your everyday spending habits. If you already have a major credit card, you may be able to replace it with one offered by the same bank that has these more specialized features. Some of the more fun features of sports credit cards are that you can even use them for special events, sports memorabilia, or things such as autographed equipment.
As always you want to ensure that the card will not encourage unnecessary spending, but rather get you more bang for your credit card bucks. The credit card industry is a highly competitive one, which is why the banks are offering more and more options for their customers. The sports market, which includes both fans, teams and individual athletes, is a huge market. The banks know that people in these market segments will have ongoing, unique spending habits, so they want to gain as much of that business as they can. That means that between the competing sports credit cards, you will be able to find all kinds of fun and relevant rewards.
